When going to market it’s about waking up early and catching the bus to make it.. There are so many vendors that there is no way to see them all. They all debut their new introductions so we work long hours to see all that we can see. Some of our favorite showrooms we are looking forward to this year are Eloquence, Bliss, Wildwood, Chelsea House and Currey & Co. There’s often wine…Read More
Its Friday and its fabulous here at the NEW Providence Design Showroom! We are working hard to get everything ready for our party next week. Hope to see you there
Last week my friend Alexis and I tried out Piro, a new pizza place in SOMA. This week we ate at a place called South On Main, that happens to be next door to Piro. South On Main is a unique experience as it is a great restaurant, as well as performance venue, featuring the best of southern cuisine and culture. Wednesday night, when we went, there was a jazz band performing. Our table was close to the band, so we started with wine and appetizers while listening to the music.
Unfortantly after I snapped a photo of the wine and the really pretty chandeliers above the host stand, my phone decided to quit working.
I did however gather some photos online of menu items, and will do my best to describe our meal haha.
We started with the skillet break appetizer. It is a soft bread, similar to pita that is cooked in a cast iron skillet, hence the name. Its served with different dips, spreads, or toppings, and the night we were there, it was a delicious smoked trout spread. Our waitress brought us a second appetizer on the house, since it was our first time dining there... thanks again! She picked her favorite, the trotters, made from pork and a cornbread served over brown beans. So yummy!
For our main course, my friend ordered the pasta, and I the fish.
The pasta was wonderful with butternut squash, brussel sprouts, and sage. My striped bass was delicious with the fennel salad and clams.
For desert we had the cookies, which a is basically two homemade cookies with a scope of ice cream in between. The ice cream is from Loblolly, a local ice cream place. Below is the chocolate chip version, while the one we had was snicker-doodle cookies with carrot cake ice cream in the middle. Awesome!
South on Main was a great place. The atmosphere with the live music combined with the delicious food was so awesome, especially on a Wednesday night! I would definitely go back. The music always changes, as well as different variations of menu items, so you could have a totally different experience every time.
Will you be trying South on Main?
Until next week, Zac.
I consider myself very fortunate to have close friends who enjoy trying new things, especially food! haha.
We recently tried Piro Brick Oven & Barroom, which just opened in SOMA here in Little Rock, and we loved it! It is all around a great restaurant. The atmosphere, the staff, the interior design, and of course the food, all excellent.
They were packed considering it was a Saturday night, so the energy in the room was great. Between the two of us we recognized a few other diners, as well as a waitress, who we went to high school with!
We ended up sitting at the bar for some awesome drinks, and catching up with our friend from high school.
Next we ordered pizzas! My friend ordered the H.A.M.cetta, which is a restaurant favorite, and I had the Funghi.
They both were so delicious! We will definitely be back, and recommend you give it a try.
What do you think? Anyone else been there?
Until next week, Zac.
I had the best of intentions...I really did. Was going to the store this weekend...and was going to try a recipe from Ina Garten's new cook book...
Zac has already tried the recipe so he should have done this post...Just saying...
Pastitsio...or Greek Lasagna.
When Daddy died a Greek friend of Mother's brought something similar to the house and I've been craving it every since...
Yum! The combination of beef, red wine, cinnamon and pasta plus the creamy béchamel topping. Oh my...
Unfortunately, I have been working on the Southern Living Idea House all weekend and now on to a client's bedroom...so have not been to the store and we will not be enjoying this dish tonight...
But I know you will want to try it, so if you don't already have Ina's cookbook...
I did a little Ina stalking preparing for this post...I just love her style and the beautiful rustic way she both presents her food and decorates her home...Everything fresh from her luscious gardens...
Everything Ina does is always simple but elegant and never ostentatacious.
Her work is her passion and fits seamlessly into her every day life with Jeffry. And don't you just love the way she loves her Jeffry?
Does Ina's quiet gentle way inspire you too?
It's your turn. Let's talk!
